Hello, hello, hello! Y'all (yes, I'm sorry, I say y'all) might have noticed that I am less active both with posts and on social media on the weekend. That is because for weekdays are when I'm social and I power through, but my weekends are my chance to unplug from the world and recharge.
I easily get overwhelmed and anxious from too many things happening. Because of this, weekdays usually leave me completely drained and I rely on the weekend to be able to refocus my attention onto me, check in, and see what I am needing. Unfortunately this often means that I often ignore people, but luckily for me my friends and family are used to it at this point (or at least I hope they are...).
Taking the weekend for myself is my way of taking that 10 seconds (or rather 48 hours) to ensure that I can endure long distance. I'm not going to retell the tortoise and the hare, but I think that it's important to remember that your life is a marathon, not a sprint. If you need to slow down for a couple of miles that's way better than exhausting yourself in the first 5 and not being able to finish. So walk for a bit, take one of those tiny cups of water the randos are handing out, wave back at all of the people cheering the runners on. And when you're ready you can pick up your regular pace and keep on going, otherwise you're going to be collapsing over the finish line and that ain't pretty.
